Amun Studios LLC ("Amun Studios," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Kanji Yomi Search mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App processes, how it's used, and your choices. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Camera images and drawings. When you use the camera or drawing search feature, the image you capture or draw is sent directly to Google's Gemini API for the sole purpose of identifying the kanji and returning its reading (yomi). We do not store these images on our own servers, and we do not retain them after the lookup is complete.

Advertising data. The App uses Google AdMob to show rewarded video ads (e.g., to unlock extra camera scans). AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as your advertising ID), IP address, and ad interaction data to serve and measure ads. This collection is governed by Google's policies — see Section 4.

Locally stored data. Your daily camera scan count and any in-app settings are stored only on your device (not on a server). We do not create user accounts, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or other account information.

Diagnostic data. Standard, anonymized crash and performance data may be collected by Apple/Google platform tools to help us fix bugs. This is not linked to your search content.

Purchase data (Kanji Yomi Search Pro). If you subscribe to Pro ($2.99/year, unlimited scans, no ads), the purchase is processed entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We receive only a confirmation that an active subscription exists (to unlock Pro features) and do not receive or store your payment card details, billing address, or other payment information.

2. How We Use Information

  • To process your camera/drawing search and return kanji readings

  • To enforce the free daily scan limit and rewarded-ad unlock feature

  • To display and measure in-app advertising

  • To verify and unlock Pro subscription benefits (unlimited scans, no ads)

  • To diagnose crashes and improve app stability

We do not sell your information, and we do not use your captured images or drawings for advertising or profiling.

3. Data Retention

Images and drawings submitted for kanji lookup are transmitted to the Gemini API for processing and are not stored by us afterward. Daily scan counters are kept locally on your device and reset automatically; uninstalling the App removes this data.

5. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us using the details below and we will take appropriate action.

6. Your Choices

  • Limit ad tracking: You can limit ad personalization through your device settings (iOS: Settings > Privacy > Tracking; Android: Settings > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization) or via the App Tracking Transparency / consent prompt shown in the App.

  • No account to delete: Because the App does not require an account, there is no server-side profile to delete. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.

7. Data Security

We rely on standard platform security (iOS/Android sandboxing, encrypted network transmission) to protect data in transit to the Gemini API and AdMob. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International Data Transfers

Because the Gemini API and AdMob are operated by Google, your images, drawings, and ad-related data may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
