xEV Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 9, 2026
xEV ("xEV," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the xEV mobile application (the "App") collects, how it is used, and your choices. By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.
This document is a template provided for general guidance and is not a substitute for legal advice. We recommend having it reviewed by a qualified attorney before publishing, especially to confirm compliance with laws in the regions where your users are located (e.g., GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA in California).
1. Information We Collect
Location Data. xEV uses your device's location, with your permission, to show nearby EV charging stations on the map. You can decline or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings; if you do, you can still find charging stations by manually searching an address or city instead. Location data is used only to display and filter nearby stations and is processed on your device — we do not store your location history on any server.
Advertising Data (Google AdMob). xEV displays ads through Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may automatically collect certain information from your device to serve and measure ads, which can include your advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS / AAID on Android), IP address, device type, general (coarse) location, app usage, and other technical identifiers. This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us directly. See Google's practices at:
https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543 (How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services)
App Preferences. Settings you choose in the App — such as your car/connector profile (Tesla, CCS, CHAdeMO, PHEV/AC, etc.) and active filters — are saved locally on your device only. They are never uploaded to or stored on any cloud server operated by us.
We do not require an account, and we do not operate cloud servers that store your personal data. xEV does not collect your name, email address, or other account information unless you voluntarily contact us (e.g., by emailing support).
2. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
Show EV charging stations near your current location or a searched address
Filter the map based on your selected connector type, charging speed, and car profile
Display and measure advertising through Google AdMob
Diagnose and fix technical issues if you contact support
We do not sell your personal information. Google AdMob may use device identifiers to personalize or measure ads as described in Google's own policies linked above; this is governed by your interaction with Google, and you can limit it using the controls in Section 5.
3. Data Storage and Retention
xEV does not store your data in the cloud. Location queries are used in the moment to render the map and are not retained by us afterward. App settings and filter preferences live only in local storage on your device and are deleted if you uninstall the App or clear its data. We have no backend database of user profiles.
4. Third-Party Services
xEV relies on the following third parties to operate:
Google AdMob — serves in-app advertising. See Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Mapping/tile provider — powers the map display shown in the App. (Add the specific name of your map tile provider here, e.g., MapTiler, Stadia Maps, OpenStreetMap, or your own hosted tiles — the provider you use may log IP addresses or request metadata when map tiles are fetched.)
Charging station data sources — station locations, connector types, and availability shown in the App may come from third-party or public datasets. We do not guarantee this data is accurate, complete, or current (see the Terms of Service).
These third parties operate under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
5. Your Choices
Location permission: Enable, disable, or change (e.g., "While Using the App" vs. "Never") at any time via your device's Settings. Disabling it doesn't prevent you from using search-by-address.
Ad personalization: You can opt out of personalized advertising via your device's ad settings — on iOS through Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking / Apple Advertising, and on Android through Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization.
Reset advertising identifier: Available in the same device ad settings menus.
Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored preferences.
6. Children's Privacy
xEV is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us so we can address it.
7. California and Other Regional Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including rights to know, access, delete, or opt out of the "sale/sharing" of personal information (which, under CCPA, can include advertising identifiers shared with ad networks like AdMob). Because we don't operate servers storing your personal data, most such requests can be satisfied through the device-level ad controls in Section 5, but you may also contact us at the email below with any request.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures appropriate to an app that stores data locally rather than in the cloud. No method of electronic storage or transmission (including by third parties like Google AdMob) is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
